Committee Descriptions

Artist in Residence
Assists school Art Department with the Artist in Residence program. Members of this committee will work with the art teacher to research and select the artist and volunteer during school hours to assist the artist and students.

Backpack Express
Help stuff our weekly communication folders (this happens almost every Wednesday morning at 9 a.m., but you don't have to come every week.

Beaver Bash
This annual spring fair is our biggest single fundraiser and is the highlight of the school year for the students. This committee is responsible for food, games, prizes, activities, bake sale, raffle baskets, etc. Numerous volunteers are needed. New ideas are always welcome. Meetings begin in January/February and run until the Bash which is usually scheduled in May.

Book Fair
Help set up and/or operate the sale of books in morning, afternoon, or evening shifts during the fall and spring book fairs. (Chair: OPEN)

Fall Masquerade Ball
Assist with preparation, food/drink, games, prizes, and activities. Many volunteers are needed for this.

Family Portrait Fundraiser
Work with the PTO selected photographer to promote the fundraiser through flyers in Backpack Express, information in the Beaver Banner PTO pages, and on the PTO website. Assist photographer with scheduling. Serve as liaison between photographer and PTO board and school principal.

Field Day
Morning and afternoon help needed as kids participate in outdoor games in June.

Fifth Grade Parent Planning
Help plan, setup, clean up for various 5th grade student events during the school year.

Garden Club
Help with fixing up the flowerbeds around the school in the spring and summer. Several clean-up days are scheduled during the fall and spring.

Helping Hands
This is our committee that helps with the procurement and distribution of food/clothing/gift cards/etc. to families in need. Bigger collections happen prior to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays so that all Beaver Creek families are ensured nice holidays. Other collections happen throughout the school year as needed.

Holiday Event & Holiday Shop Shop
Volunteers are needed to set up and assist in the sale of merchandise tables during the Holiday Shop. Many volunteers are needed throughout the sale for a few hours each day during the week of the sale to help students purchase their gifts.

Pizza Bingo
Volunteer to setup, solicit prizes, cleanup, etc. for this family event typically scheduled in January.

Publishing Center
Work with other volunteers to laminate and bind students' literary works. Typing/word processing can be done at home. Many volunteers are needed for this.

Restaurant Nights
Plan three or more "Restaurant Nights" at Chik-Fil-A, Chuck E Cheese's, and/or other popular restaurants. Involves contacting the restaurants, scheduling the fundraiser, submitting publicity materials to be included in Backpack Express, and coordinating any needed volunteers for the day of the event. Staff Appreciation Luncheon
This committee plans and serves a luncheon for the BC teachers and staff for a job well done. Requires distribution of volunteer forms for entrees, salads, desserts, etc. from BC families. The luncheon is generally served in early May in conjunction with Teacher Apprecation Week.

Talent Show
Assist in rehearsals and performance operations. (Chair: OPEN)

Yearbook
Take pictures throughout the year and/or work to assemble the yearbook in the winter/spring.
